Di-tert-butyl peroxide is an organic peroxide. It is a strong oxidizer.It is a clear liquid that can be mixed with organic solvents such as benzene and petroleum ether, and is insoluble in water. Its CAS number is 110-05-4.

Di-tert-butyl peroxide is also known as DTBP.Di-tert-butyl peroxide is mainly used as a resin initiator, photopolymerization sensitizer, rubber vulcanizer, diesel ignition accelerator, and also in organic synthesis.

Application

 

Di-tert-butyl peroxide is used for crosslinking of high polymers such as silicone rubber, ethylene propylene diene monomer, polyethylene, etc.It is also used as a free radical donor in polypropylene degradation.
